Whilst the majority of students joining the Sixth Form at
Redborne progress from Year 11, many students each year
also join us from other institutions. Trends would suggest this
number is increasing.
There are a number of advantages to remaining in the Sixth
Form. These include:
l
knowledge of the staff who will be teaching you and they,
in turn, know you. This will help you settle to Sixth Form
studies more quickly
l
continuity of approach in terms of teaching styles,
expectations, guidance and support
l
carefully selected syllabuses to offer continuity from
courses in Year 11
l
courses that follow naturally with clear progression routes
from the work undertaken at GCSE level
l
daily contact with a tutor who is always available to help
and advise you
l
the opportunity to play an important part in the life and
the general organisation of not only the Sixth Form, but
also of the remainder of the school and the local
community
l
being in smaller teaching groups which means you will
have closer contact with the teacher. We are, therefore,
able to offer you individual help if difficulties arise
l
the provision of qualifications which will help you
approach the world of work or Higher Education. It
should also help you develop personally, equipping you
with skills and interests which will be of use to you for the
rest of your adult life.
