To study 3 or 4 A levels or equivalents, students must achieve a minimum total of 5 grades 4 to 9 at GCSE level.  Where vocational equivalents (eg ICT or music technology) are counted into the total to meet the minimum criteria, they should be at ‘merit’ level or higher.

Many subjects also have specific minimum entry requirements to take their subject.
